First of a duo of Roman heavy infantry as they may have appeared at battle of Strasbourg (357AD).
Photo is poor but will give you a taste for this magical 54mm from Soldiers premier sculptor Adrianno Larrucia.

Apart from photo quality would welcome any comments you may have to help me improve on his partner when I begin it in a month or two.

    Hey Mike,

That face as posted on MedRom looks fantastic!
The picture here is way too dark to comment on though... But that shield looks great!

    Cheers,
    Adrian

Mike, Neil, Andy, Derek, Carl - thanks for your patience on this one. Photos were taken in a hurry & don't do any justice to the hours invested in this guy.

Lots of texture & effect not visible so I will take more shots & share those.

Appreciate you also taking the time to call by MedRom & check out the other photos there, albeit they are from the same batch & not much cop either.

There's a lesson in this for me ;-)

Looking very good. Don't know if the green shine is from the picture's or you paint this in, but that gives the metal some awesome look. Like that angry look.

Thanks Les & Marc for commenting.

Ref "green shine" maybe photo, though Raw Umber used to shade & this has a green brown hue.

Almost 4 years on from when I finished this little guy...
Been wanting to take decent photos of my last Roman project.

New camera has made it possible. What do you think?

That looks fantastic. The camera has caught the detailing and weathering very well.
Also had a look at the face close-ups on Med-Rom ..... Wow!

    Cheers,

This guy looks fantastic and he is only a 54mm, I thought he was a 75mm. The camera has worked wonders.
I know next to nothing on ancient history, so this is a learning curve for me.

Thanks Andrew, really liked this figure & neat to get a decent photo of him to share.

Grateful for your comment Bob, we're all still learning mate :)

    Hi Paul, thank you too.
I've got his mate sitting on a display shelf next to him unpainted.
Was going to pair them on same base, who knows if that will ever happen though.
They could end up quite different in appearance given the way my painting approach has shifted over the years.
Not sure when I'll eventually get round to doing him.
Lots of commissions - pilots & WW1 subjects to do before hand.

    Stay safe,
    Mike

Mike I am wondering, maybe if you can do the other groundwork base to match they can still stand together, but side by side?

It's good to get a neglected figure out and finish it isn't it?
I sometimes get more satisfaction from that than the newest aquisition.

I hope you have time to post the commissions you are doing too mate.

    Happy new year.

    Good idea Paul!
Could match them perhaps, I like your thinking ref bringing those awaiting to be painted to the bench ;)

Will post projects here as time permits.
If you do Facebook you can get a feel for other photo experiments I'm doing.
As well as some upcoming projects.
