    hi friends

after some period without any post here my last figure finished...
is a portrait of Louis-Charles-Gregoire Maignet as colonel of the 9th Hussard.
Our guy was colonel of the rgt during the period 1809 - 1813 living the russian campaign until Lipsia.
born in 1768 and died in 1848.

the figure is based on a Knotel illustration where only the position is changed due to a strange situation... maybe I'll explain it

    9 hussard.jpg

the figure is based on metal modeles part. The horse comes from Murat kit where I milled off the saddle.
copper sheet has been used to make the new saddle

Milliput green is the putty used for this figure

I choose the head in the Figurinitaly expressive set heads, perfect for the purpose and developed to fit the 1/30 scale
Busby completely resculpted as the right arm

Ivo, I agree with everyone else — this is really impressive. Two questions: how did you make the braiding on the colpack and horse’s head, please and what are the “studs” on the horse tackle?

    hi Jeff

    an answer and a question...

the colpack braiding were made using lead wire simply braided. Three couple of wires tressed in the classical system used to make a braid

on the horse head i used the same lead wire, two wires twisted and the flattened

what do you mean "what are the studs on the horse tackle?" do you intend the buckle?

Thank you, Ivo. What I meant by “studs” are the round objects on the leatherwork, as shown on the photo below. I only ask because I’ve had trouble with buttons on uniforms at this scale and. perhaps, your method would work for them, too. iu.jpeg

ok understand... the buckles are built using a jewelry tools that was available also at world expo.
are different size punches that I press on a soft metal sheet to obtain the buttons
