    Hi pF,

Giving my take on this beautiful bust by Life Miniatures. Realised the left eye needs a little tweaking after taking this photo.

    Hi jonathan,

The base skin tone is a mix of Jo Sonja Turners Yellow, Raw Sienna, Rose Pink and Skintone hue.

For the hightlights and shadows, i decided to try another brand of paints.Used the skin hightlight and shadows from Vallejo Panzer Aces set

The vallejo colors has a slight sheen when dry as opposed to Jo Sonja which dries very matt. Its not very evident in the photo though.

Looks great so far, but would suggest avoiding black for mouth details - doesn't look natural, and makes that area stand out more than the eyes.

    regards,

    Brilliant start on this figure!

Taking photo's of work in progress is a real eye-opener when it comes to checking how well a figure is progressing, I use it in my sculpting and its been a harsh critic when I've needed it the most. I would recommend it to anyone wanting up their game (y)

Worked on the head over the weekend, it's around 80% done. Some highlights on the forehead that i need to push further.

Trying to paint the reflection on the googles, somewhat messy for now, but let's see how it goes :)

Beautiful painting, the first impression I got looking at this was that he was a dead ringer for battle of Britain pilot George Barclay DFC. All he would need was the little moustache. So to remind myself, I looked up Barclay on google and found that there's a new revised hardback edition of his autobiography that my favourite aunt gave me as a Christmas tree present in 1977. so thanks for the memory.
    Best wishes, Gary.
PS Yes of course I ordered it.

Superbly done. The cravat and sweater are spot on and you capture the youth of one of 'The Few'.

I think one of the great things about planetFigure is that we get an interest in and from what each other are doing.

Very nice progress Benjamin. Really like what you did on the face, freckles particularly!

Not sure from the picture alone, but his eyebrows could be slightly stronger in this scale? When comparing with the b&w picture that is.

    Cheers,
    Adrian

    Thanks Adrian,

You are right, the eyebrows could be slightly stronger. Just have to watch myself and go overboard :)
