Picked up some of my favorites:
    Wanted Man,
    Boy named Sue,
    Man in black,
    To beat the Devil
    and few others
    and put them on autorepeat...

This is what came out (so far):

    Main ref images are:

Size is about 1/6, maybe a bit bigger (want a bust for my office table).

The main goal is to make him recognizable, so any help, suggestions, critics are welcome ;)

Nose too big, eyes still a mess...looks to me that the front part of the jaw still need to be a bit wider.
Know that nose was broken in car crash, and there is also a scar on right cheek...

He's coming on great Darko (y)

I've been flipping back and forward between your reference pics and the sculpt but I'm afraid my eyes are not as keen as yours as I can't see much to change. I agree that the nose may need some reducing and reshaping, it also looks a bit too straight when compared to the mug shot. In the head-on reference photo the bridge of the nose seems, to my eyes at least, to slope a little from left to right.

Great start and the likeness is already getting there!

Should the left and right outer edges of the eyes be slightly more up and down?

Maybe the outer parts of the lower eye lids be less smooth, slightly more bulbous and slightly more up and down?

Feel free to ignore these suggestions...

    All the best,
    Dan

Great choice and great progress. :)

I agree with Dan: the eyes seem 'tilted up' a tad. I also think they might be a little too wide, too. If they were dialled back towards the old 'two fifths, line up with the nasal wing' rule...

Two little comments. The inner edge of the eye, the tip of the nose and the centre of the mouth should b nearly equally spaced so I think your nose is juta little long. Secondly the upper eyelids look a little too rounded and not as hooded as the real photos.
Coming along really nicely despite these comments.

    Looks better to me!! (y)

Probably you have lots of images of Cash, but I'm curious to know which one or two are you using as primary references?

    All the best,

I wanted a look from about beginning of 70's, the one "from Folsom prison" is great because it has front and profile, but has no real details (pic is low res), so I'm using few others for details, but as I said at about beginning of 1970.
The "Folsom Prison" pic is actually a "fake" as he newer served at Folsom, I think that the date on picture is a date of famous Folsom prison concert...
I tried to find a better version of that picture but with no luck...

Regions where the two images are not "blended" are good indicator that things are wrong. From this one major problem is still region of the eyes:

Just quick & dirty volume of the hair. Will refine it a bit more tomorrow and then continue to fight the likeness , maybe it will be a bit easier with all the main volumes set:

I only wish I have more time to work on it...progress is slow, but fortunately SS firm covered with a plastic bag can stay "fresh" for a very long time ;)
