Just started this flat from Fredericus Rex. A 54mm Hanoverian Horse Grenadier of the Seven Years War period.

Still working on the horse and boots but as usual all comments, critique etc. gratefully received.

Looks a good start. But the picture is to small to give some comments on.

Excellent work Roger. I'm always amazed at how life like these flats appear once you've got some paint on them

Thank you Carl. The plan is to display this one a little differently and include a foot figure too. More of that later. :)

Cheers Tony. The designer and engraver have to take most of the credit for that. Get a good lifelike figure and the painting is just the finishing touch.

Excellent stuff, Roger!! Some sumptous reds and an interesting pose especially since it is a flat.

    All the best,

    Thanks Carl :)

Cheers Dan. Yes it's a great pose, if I can get the highlights etc. right it should give a good impression of being 3D.

    Hi Roger,

Nice start on this, really like the way you have determined the light source and brought this out on the horse. Look forward to seeing more.

Well done Roger..it really is an interesting pose and you've done a great job with the lighting effects on horse, and rider! I also like the mix of browns you have used on the horse.
