    Hi all!

I've just started this beautiful and original figure from El Viejo Dragon, one of their latest releases. I was lucky to receive it as a prize in last months Zaragoza's modelling contest.

I primed with citadel White and sprayed with chaos black from the bottom to enhance shadows and lights.
The face is more or less finished. I used acrylics from Vallejo. The base is Brown sand with a hint of red. Lights with basic skintone and light flesh. Shadows with black red. Glazes with orange, violet, red violet and blue for the beard.
Let's see how it comes out... IMG-20160606-WA0020.jpg

This is a fantastic start, and the figures sculpting is the same fantastic fare for EVD!

Thank you guys for your kind words :)

I have been reading a little about the figure. It represents a Spanish hero from the Peninsular War, Antonio García Monteavaro, better known as “The Immortal”. During the war he received (and survived!) to 32 bullets and blade weapons wounds, including a firing squad!

These are the only two pictorials and uniform references that I have been able to find on the web, the first from Antonio García Monteavaro himself. The figure it is clearly inspired on it.

    Crikey..... all those wounds.

His wife must have been damned good with a needle
    and thread.
There's no sign of repairs on his jacket ! ;) :)

Looks wonderful ....good old EVD, usually great castings
    and character pieces.

I hope you enjoy this lovely prize.

    Thank you sirs!
Peedee, that's because it's me, not her wife, painting the jacket ;)

The jacket is almost done. Please, remind me not to paint anything yellow during a long time! Man, what a difficult color. The lights don't go up and the shadows can easily ruin your work. Yesterday I went to bed very late till I was more or less satisfied with the transitions. Still some corrections and underlinings need to be done.
The colors used (all Vallejo): basecoat of yellow ochre. Lights with flat yellow and ice yellow. Shadows with violet and flat Brown. Everything with Tamiya flat base.

Great start and I totally agree that yellow is a pain to paint. Your yellows are looking excellent.

    This is progressing very well.
The yellow looks fine and you've managed to give the brown trousers a texture.
I look forward to seeing this develop.
