Finished just in time for this weekend's annual Western Australian Scale Model Expo (WASMEx) is this superb figure of the character Maximus from the movie Gladiator. The impressive detail on the shield and armour is matched by the natural body pose of the figure.

The one major change I made, which was inspired by Sergey Popovichenko, was to hollow out the helmet and shave off most of the back of the head to fit the helmet on the head. IMHO a much better and more "bad ass" look than the box art.

This figure has been on my workbench for over 2 years and was covered in dust until yesterday when I finally decided to finish it. Now that I see the finished product, I feel it was worth the wait.

    All comments and criticism welcome.

    Very nice bit of painting.
It looks so much more in keeping with the film with the 'lid' on.
    God luck at WASMEx.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Thanks Andrew,

Well WASMEx is over and the Gladiator figure won First place in the Medium Scale Fantasy Figure category.
I also picked up First in Fantasy Busts, First in Medium Scale Historical Figures and second and Third in Historical Busts, behind fellow Planeteer, Reddo (Peter Carr).

Best of Show was awarded to Nick M (Nick Mulligan, for his Alpine Miniatures figure of a WW2 US Infantryman with Tommy Gun.

Apologies for the crappy IPhone pics but here are a selection of the figures entered by myself, Reddo and Nick M. naturally Planet figure dominated the Figures & Busts categories.
