Completed Critique GI BAR Gunner - Alpine Miniatures - 1/16 - Finished

    Hi All,

Finished this some time ago. It turned out to be a more challenging figure than I anticipated. There's just so much detail to paint and the figure holding a gun in front of him poses some construction and painting challenges as well, even with Alpine's truly excellent fit of parts, my compliments to that! (y)

All painting was done in Vallejo acrylics, matted down with a touch of Tamiya Matt (except the face).

I tried some new techniques on the gun, trying to get different tones to the metal, some brownish, some blueish. I also tried something new on the leather boots, but am not sure if I'll repeat this on the next figure.

Snow is a mixture of white sand and microballoons.

Pfew, done! On to the next one...

    Regards, hope you like it,
    Adrian

ThiS is an astonishing result. The gun looks very realistic!!!!
I don't see any problem with the boots ( if I may comment on this) so what was the technique???

I think:confused: I've given you my opinion on this figure Adrian?... nevermind.
The face contrast is very strong and well done for my taste, winter with the harsh effects the skin turned red.
The uniform and the webbing are great, smooth transitions and very realistic. About the groundwork, could be different, more attractive IMHO not so ordinary.

    Cheers,
    Pedro.

Adrian, that is really impressive! Your painting and weathering is stunning, and you've managed to give the impression of a damp, wet uniform. The groundwork is simple and really compliments the figure.
    Just superb, mate!
