    Hello All,
This project originally set out as a bust in 1/12.It is now going to be a full figure in that scale. The inspiration came from seeing Carl Reids Scots bust built into a full figure, what a great idea.
Although started some time ago this would be bust is to be an MG34 gunner. The first thing and most tricky is to turn a bullet cartridge on the lathe( done after two or three attempts)As long as you get the shape right you neednt worry too much about measurements in this scale I find.
The bullet was then sent to cast in white metal. After recieving 25 or so examples ,they were joined together in a jig. This 30mm length of ammo is again sent to the casters ,and will eventually be part of the kit.Resin belts of ammo look the part ,but im the opinion they dont show the weight on the figure. Will post pics of the ammo later.
The helmet is a casting from a previous model.
The MG34 will take a while as there are so many components.First with the perferated jacket, marked out in the chuck of the lathe, scribing lines then hand drilling the holes.Once again set in the lathe and turned down to diameter which is close to 3mm .Some bits are made in brass to allow for soldering.Solder can be shaped once cooled.
WW2 German figures are the most modelled theme, there is a lot of info on this subject. So no excuses for getting it wrong dare I say.I have some local help from enthusiasts here.A local gunsmith, and a militaria collecter Mark Twiname, who are both experts in their chosen fields.
This is a time consuming build so will post when possible.comments welcome.
