On the bench at the moment is this set of 30mm flats by Kieler Zinnfiguren. They will be painted as the 1st Company franscoises.
Work has already begun but here's an initial couple of photo's of the primed figs.

Hi Roger, looks like a nice set of figures, I can see a bit of clean up and filling is needed but they will paint up beautifully.
I can't see your WIP pictures for some reason. Look forward to progress,
    Keith

Keith, I thought I'd got the clean up sorted until I looked at these close up's so the files and scalpel will be coming out again.
I'm not sure why you can't see the latest pics.

Remember my first and only visit to Under Two Flags in london , stood amazed at all the flat sets in the window ,complete little dioramas of all sorts .

Look forward to your paint up.

Hi Roger, I can see the pictures now, I was worried that you had painted some of the areas needing cleaning up but I can see that isn't the case, look forward to seeing these progress.

Hello Keith, I find that a coat of primer helps to highlight those areas that need some more cleaning up, especially at this size.

HI Roger, absolutely right but I still get halfway through painting and then find a seam line I missed:mad: then it's a difficult decision, do I keep going or remove it and repaint:cry:

Not a bad days horse painting, there's more to do on them but you can maybe get an idea now how they will look.

Nice start, Roger! I like your brown tones especially. Are you going to knock the highlights down a little?

I'm wondering about the Gardes du Corps--their uniforms didn't change much between 1700 and the Seven Years War, did they?

    Prost!

Thanks Brad, I'll see what the highlights look like when some more of the figures are painted, if the rest has quite a high highlight it might look quite so odd..... or perhaps it will. :D

I haven't done much (any) research but I don't think there were many changes over the period between 1700 and 1740-60.
