Progress on this set. Hmm, Trumpet banner, kettledrum banner & guidon, things are going to get much more difficult soon.

Coming along a treat Roger. I like the feeling of real movement that these figures portray. I was going to say exude but couldn't spell it.
    Nice work Mate.

Thanks Derek. I think the secret with faces at this size is to keep it as simple as possible but get the shadows and lights in the right place without worrying too much about the detail.... that's the theory anyway. :D

Incredible write up Roger. He seemed to be a very humble man who knew just how good he was.
Imagin having to etch into slate to make your moulds today. We would see only a fraction of the new figures that we get now.
So tell me, are your figures from the original etchings?
Great post Roger and best of luck with those banners.
    Cheers,
    Keith

Keith, there's still a lot of flats particularly in 30mm that are engraved the old fashioned way into slate. The figures I am painting at the moment are from the original moulds. It can sometimes be a bit hit and miss because as you can imagine some of the moulds are getting a bit tired after so many years.
