For a limited palette Roger that is one very nice piece.

Thanks Carl. I found it more difficult than slapping the colour on but hopefully the end result will be worth the effort.

Very cool Roger. And....in a weird way, I really like the backdrop you have him on. Gives a great painterly look to it! I know it's your palette/temporary mount, but it still looks interesting, almost more like a modernist painting!

Thanks Jay. Your comment about the background has given me an idea or two to experiment with some backgrounds for finished figs.

Cheers David. I was thinking of adding some colour to the feathers in the hat but I might leave well alone.

Excellent, Roger! A bit more muted and a bit less flamboyant - I like it!!

    All the best,

Roger, I have ever attempted to paint a flat, but own two and ordered the one you have on display on this post because I was so impressed with what you did with it. Thanks for posting it. May I ask, do you paint with acrylics or oils or both? And, any advice for a novice at flats? I have attempted to paint miniature figures for the past 6 years, but no flats to date.

Steve, thank you. I paint with acrylics. If you take a look at the link in my sig. to the British Flat Figure Society there's a lot of info there. If there's anything specific you would like to know drop me a pm and I'll do my best to help you out.
The best tip is to choose a light source, top left or right and and paint the light & shadow to create a 3D effect.

John, Pedro, thanks very much. :)

    Roger.
