    Great find Steve !!

Having been to this location I found it incredible that on the day, in the dark, using just altimeter, compass, and stopwatch they landed within feet of not just the Bridge but a gun emplacement and trenches that protected the crossing.
The gun emplacement is still there next to the new bridge.

The cairns that mark the landing spots also had to be renamed after one of the veterans just happened to mention that, as he piloted glider 2 in, he pulled to the right to allow No3 in to position.
So in the ariel photos you see from the bridge back...
    Glider 1
    Glider 3
    Glider 2
What presence of mind under such stress in the dark.
    so humbling.

The drone also seemed to fly over the Meurville Battery on the approach from the sandhills inland to the left of the Orne river.

If you get the opportunity to go, I commend you to do so.

Very impressive flying, I doubt Crab Air would have gotten anywhere near if they had been in charge :D

Looking south to Caen the paras bombarded this large building with the German gun thinking it was German held until they were told it was a hospital !

When the Orne canal was widened, the Original bridge was set aside and is a memorial centrepiece outside the nearby museum.
