CRIB-Mk.IV Trench Crossing Device (1/35) - Model Cellar

    I know it's not a figure, but...

The Model Cellar would like to announce the release (re-issue) of a CRIB - Mk.IV Trench Crossing Device. It is suitable for the new WWI British Mk.IV male or female tanks from Takom or Tamiya. If you are not familiar with the CRIB, or what it does... The CRIB replaced the Facine as a countermeasure to cross trenches without getting stuck IN the trench. A 'facine' was a big cylindrical 'bundle' of sticks/branches that would be deployed and rolled into a trench to sort of fill the trench. The tank would then drive over that and hopefully not get stuck down in the trench. As sticks/branches, etc. became scarce, the "CRIBS" were assembled from timbers and angle irons. There are several good pictures of tanks with their CRIBS in "Tanks and Trenches" by David Fletcher, and in "Armoured Onslaught 8th August 1918" book 25 of the Ballantine's Illustrated History of the Violent Century
