as you know I like too much the theme "captured flags"
after the flag taken at Waterloo is the time of a new subject inspired by the art of Edouard Detaille,

    61-1.jpg

an historical research show me different possibilities and between them I choose to represent the chef d'Escadron Francois Jacquemin that took a flag during Austerlitz battle in 1805.

the flag was taken to Arkhangelogorod rgt.

the figure start from Eisembach horse range with some metal Modeles components...

a steel pin (1.5 mm thick) was inserted into the left rear leg to support a flying horse

flag has been done in copper, I choose this solution because less fragile and easy to be managed. I wrapped a little the flag on the cuirassier hand

    Hi.

It looks good but it can't be at Austerlitz in 1805. Indeed this uniform was not used by the carabinier until 1810 as you can see in this picture from Historex. At Austerlitz, they look like the left figures.

ok... my fault... i didn't explain that the painting is only for inspiration.

    Mr. Jacquemin was a cuirassier

Another superb start inspired by a fantastic painting Ivo. I really like the pose you have created for the horse - it fits the style perfectly. In my very humble opinion I would say the arm holding the flag in the painting is more 'up' than 'out' but I assume you are not trying to copy the pose exactly.
    Looking forward to more updates.
    Cheers

    it's time to continue

the figure has been worked as usual with Milliput Terracotta

the right arm isn't fixed to manage the flag but is sculpted around a pin, please note the hand that get some cloth sculpted directly on the copper. the saddle cloth has been completed with a mix of copper sheet and milliput
    [IMG]

I found the figure a little bit empty and i added the cap to close the rear part of the cuirassier. It has been done in a copper sheet, the same as for the flag

Brilliant. Like the cape, the folds are very fine and the horse leaping is so well done.

paintint start, nothing special... as usual I painted in oils or acrylic depending of the part. Oils for skin, horse and leathers and acrylics for the tissue and the cap
A dark bay brune horse has been chosen to contrast the cold situation

right arm is still not fixed to have an easy paint of the flag
