    Hello there,
It has been a while since I posted anything.........Life
    just getting in the way

Anyhow this is the start of my current project
never painted a black uniform....but armed with
    Mike Blanks terrific publication "Black'n'White
this is my approximation of it

I am painting different areas of black separately to give
variety.....they will be different as i use different proportions
of colour each time. The facial tones are based on that
great article Jaume wrote thanks it certainly works

the next post will be some of the miles of white braid
got to work that one out.......... I always choose the easy figures ......huh
All comments and critiques gratefuly recieved

Take a look at the story so far

    Frank

    Frank!!!

Good to see you on here again - doing better than me! (well I'm here - just figureless)

    It's a good start! and he's 54mm? Because that's a fair sized picture!
And it's a great figure too.

I can see the different tones in the blacks you've done so far.
Are you going to more to the face, or is that complete? He'll really come to life with the braid

Take it easy, and keep the brushes wet!

    Hi Rob
    Thanks for your comments
the face still needs attention and as you say the braid will
    certainly bring him to life

It has taken me ages plus wash offs to get to this stage
but it is a terrific figure I think one of Andreas best

    Take care

    Hi Frank

I’ve had my eye on this figure for a while, I for one will be seeing how you get on.
Was there any problems with the figure at all....?

    Hi there,

Good to hear from you Roy....you are one of my favourite painters
All being well this will appear at your show which I look forward to attending
till then take care.......appreciate the encouragement.

As for the assembly....it can be a pain....I left off the pelisse.....and drilled
through the musketoon .....lock into the figure so it coulld be attached by means of a pin other wise....no real problems....... but working this out was a head ache
as I said it is a terrific figure....and a real challenge to paint.... i am a slow painter
but that is the great thing about this hobby...it really makes you think about how everything go's.... and the enjoyment you get out of it

    Take care Frank

    Hey Frank!

    Thats looking great mate!

How is the fit and cleanup of this kit? Andrea can be kind of hit and miss at times.

    Keep up the great work.

    Hi
Thanks for all the kind comments and encoragement
This is going to take me ages well at least until the night before Roy's show
it is the most challenging figure i have ever painted

The clean upwent ok ....know what you mean Anders about some of
Andreas stuff being hit and miss on cleanup only (digging myself out of a controversial hole) their sculpting overall being first class

the face on this one is very expressive....hes been there done that
and got the T shirt ....a vetran

The painting is going ok specialy as I use blending medium
plus a drop or two of flow improver to thin the paint
only using water for washing the brush.

I have found a colour called green brown from vellejo which is good for
adding to both black and white to get variety I am sure there are better ways of doing it but this seems to work for me

Anyway the next pics will show a lot more done....and hopefully
better photography...the second set did not seem to work out as the first lot did

once again thanks for your encouragement

    Frank
