This is Historic Art Miniatures, Normandy, 1944 figure in 70mm. It is based on a Robert Capa photo of a 2nd Battalion, 82nd Airborne trooper taking a break in the action in Saint-Sauveur-Le-Vicomte. This took place on or about D plus 10.

The sculptor had worked in the raised outline of a 101st ABN patch so naturally I filed and sanded it down. After paining was complete I added an 82nd ABN patch decal that I had stashed away for years. I still intend to 'dirty up' the scene a bit and add a cigarette to the troopers right hand.

This little scene was a lot of fun to paint and I must mention that I did get some help from others. A local friend of mine made me some newspaper decals, so that our trooper wouldn't be staring at blank pages, and two Planet Figure members, Gilbert Moreno and Luc (Zastro.Cuirassier). Gilbert made a nameplate for the base and Luc assisted with photos of the area architecture and colors of the buildings for reference. Thanks guys, couldn't of do it with out your help!

Could we see a closer-up photo of the vignette? Your medium distance shot is nice, just would like to look more closely at some of the details. Nicely done!

OK, this kind of stuff just baffles me. Anybody know why if my pics are right side up in my photo album they end up side ways when I post them here?

Very nice Joe!! No clue why your photos are sideways. One of the moderators?

Great version of a great figure Joe. Very much like your colour choices.

Were the pictures made with iPad or iPhone? I've heard that when you rotate them 4 times in edit mode (so no net rotation!) before posting, you'll get them to post the right way up, but I haven't tested it myself.

    Cheers,
    Adrian

Here is another pic. This one I cropped and rotated 4 times. Hopefully this action will negate the rotation.

    Thanks for the tip Adrian!

    Thanks Dan!

Still having issues. I tried deleting a photo and I got a box telling me that the action cannot be completed as the photo has already been moved or deleted. What? How is it that I'm staring right at a deleted image? I think I need the help and advice of a witch doctor!
