This is the 2nd bust I have painted and I hope is not the last. This is MJ miniatures bust of the 91st Highlanders, 1846 during the Kaffir war of 1846. This bust was reviewed some few weeks ago by our very own Napoleopeart, Kev. Well, he did such a good job, I ordered the bust that day.

Undercoated in Gamesworkshop corax white and then the face, was given a coat of WWI British uniform light. I let it dry overnight then painted the face with oils the following day.

I am enjoying this one and if it falls into place, it will be followed by another.

    Scotty,
The scale is 1/16th, which I find is just about right, although I have seen some bigger bust's,( that not what I meant) to paint.
    Thank you for the comment.

Progress is slow but getting there. The cap has been under coated in acrylic and awaits a top coat in oils. Both the front and rear peaks have been finished in oils and weather slightly.
I will now wait till the oil has dried to finish the procedure and add some cracks.

    Thanks for looking in.

    Hi all,
Another day, another update. This afternoons progress.
The peak did not go to plan. I have left it as was and just added some yellow ochre oil to the burnt umber of the peak and blended it in.
Managed to finish the blue of the cap and the red pom pom.The red of the jacket (brick red for the private soldier of the British army of this time period), was also finished. next up is the diced band, not looking forward to that.
    Thanks for looking in

To be honest I saw it this morning and thought something was not right but couldn't put my finger on it. I had to take Mrs B to hospital for a 09.30 app and intended to look at it again when I got back. On looking in this afternoon I saw your post, which confirmed something was amiss then it hit me, All I can say very forward thinking on the undercoat.
