The figure is depicted as an Officer of Husaren-Regt. König Humbert von Italien (1.Kurhessisches) Nr.13 Garrisoned at Diedenhofen, modern day Thionville in France and part of XVI Armee Korps.

The Regiment as a whole never wore the pelisse. It was gift from King Victor Emmanual III of Italy (Colonel in Chief of the regiment) and was made in August 1913, the regiments centenary.
It is thought it was only ever worn by a party of Officers who went to Rome to thank the King for the gift.
