This is a little project I am working on useing 30mm flats. A blacksmith at work.

The background I painted onto cardboard and then glued to the rear of the base. Here are some photo's of the composition and initial steps.

Thanks James, I'm just hoping I can make the foot pieces disappear when I build up the basework.

Hi Roger, I like the scene and the characters. If you allow me a suggestion. Have you thought about playing with the light cast by the fire of the forge on the figures, or project their shadows on the background? I think it's a perfect scene to experiment with lighting.

    Thank you Edourda.
You are dead right and yes, I did think of that but by the time I did I had already painted the background and was quite pleased with it and didn't want to mess around and possibly make a mess of it.
This is my first attempt at something like this and the lighting idea is noted for future use.

    Roger.
