    Hello all,
I've managed a little more progress on this one and I wanted to ask a question of you.
I've never painted anything Confederate Grey before.
How does this look to you?
Is it a good color to represent their uniforms?
I appreciate any comments or criticisms you have to say about it or the piece in general.
    thanks,
    Craig

    Craig,
Remember "uniform" and "regulation" are relative terms, but yes that looks pretty spot on.

    Hi guys,
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.
I guess I may not have been too clear with my question. I know from reading so many other posts on this kind of subject that there is almost never just one correct color or shade to paint a uniform because they can vary so much due to dyes used or manufacturers or just age and wear. What I was hoping to learn was if what I did here was al least acceptable to represent Confederate grey.

Walt, I paint in oils. This mix is actually Paynes Grey and Titanium White for the base color with more Paynes Grey for the wet on wet shadows and T. White for the highlights. After it dried, I did my secondary shadowing using W&N Blue Black. The highlighting was T. White again. I also applied a glaze coat of T. White to the base color areas to brighten it up a little as it seemed a bit dark to me.

    Thanks again guys,
    Craig
