    Hi,

This is one of the figures I've been working on!
The eyes were a particularly hard job.
The red coat has some work, but I'm waiting for the painting of the arms to achieve a more even finish.
The trousers and the waiscoat are both white, but I tried to get different tones, despite close to one another.

Thank you for stoping by Pedro, Marquis and Colin, and all the others.

Colin, yes I'm using the Andrea set. I use also a dark grey to the dark shadows; in this case I've also use some browns to achieve a dirty look.

You did an amazing job on the whites , i have the Andrea white set but i find the shadows needs to be a little bit stronger, i normally add a little bit of vallejo english uniform to accentuate the contrasts.
Have you try the Andrea red paint set?

Exactly, you are right about the shadows. One more bottle would be nice ;)
No, never used the red one.

I struggled with reds, at least with vallejo acrylics they come up too dull.
Take care and i follow with interest

    Pedro,

Please let us into the secret of your spectacularly good whites, so that us mere mortals can take a ham-fisted and mediocre stab at replicating it.

    Thank you!

As Steve said, please share your hocus-pocus with the whites. Oh Boy! I would love to paint white like you paint!

Thank you fellas for your nice comments!

Regarding the whites, as I said, I use the Andrea kit. However, I use another colours also. To dark shadows I use a dark grey. Or sometimes, to give a more yellowish look, I use the Andrea Japanese Uniform mixed with the Andrea kit.
In this case, I worked the lights and shadows and then used some brown wash to make it look dirtier. Then gave it another touch with dark shadows and high lights.

Normally, I don't follow the steps that the Andrea White kit contains... it changes with the effect/look that I want to give to the white I'm painting.
The gaiters of this figure were also painted with Andrea Set, as well as the waistcoat. Differente looks, for differente purposes...

the good thing about the Andrea white set is that you can go both directions, colder whites or warmer.

Very nice work. In my opinion you could push up the white's some more.

I like to see colder whites with a little blue in the mix. But it can be added to the Andrea set.

Marc, the photo is a little dark. So, in reality it doesn't look so dark, But I agree, that in some points I can add more light ;)

    Regards
    Pedro
