    Thank you very much Phil.
While I recommend this casting unreservedly I think your Hellenic collection will keep you out of trouble for a good spell.
I noticed today that YS Masterpieces have released their Lord Gordon Byron bust. My order is in.

Nicely done. I may have to give this one a go. I am going to try your red palette on my next redcoat. Any suggestions for toning the bright red down for a "rankers" coat?

    Thanks Michael.
As for other rankers, most writings refer to it as brick red. This is little help to the painter, I tried this and ended up as a terracotta brown and was very dull.
If I did it today I would lay a coat of sienna and give it plenty of time to dry fully.

Once dry I would cover with washes of scarlet very thin to keeping the under painting still affecting the scarlet tone. You will need to do this a number of times gradually leaving fewer washes where you want the shadows to be.
I would practice this on some plastic sheet before you tackle your figure.

    Good luck with this.

    Hi Pete.
I am pleased that you like the face. I did it with lots of thin washes. Bit of a long process but I'm pleased with the result.
It has more coats than the Grenadier Guards
Thanks for taking time to look and comment.

    Many thanks Gordon.
He is a bit of a dandy.
Normally I would want to make him look as though he had been in bit of a scrap but he did not lend himself to it.
All the best for a successful 2017.
