54mm Historex 12 pounder

    Afternoon,
I'm in the process of starting the Metal Modeles Guard artilleryman and was going to place him with a Historex 12 pounder. I was wondering if the barrel on said artillery piece would be polished brass or blackened...obviously the parade or campaign setting may have a bearing but any advice would be most helpful.
    Ta very much.

Sorry not to have seen this earlier Paul.
I hope my answer isn't too late for you.
The Gribauval guns from 12 pounder to howitzers were all painted olive green on all woodwork with all metal painted Black.

The olive green colour is difficult to define and seems brown with a green content and was mixed from black and ochre in the ratio of 1:80.

    Hoping this helps.

The olive green is a rather faded colour and is difficult to describe almost with a touch of grey in it .
Didn't know the barrels were painted black as all I have ever seen is depicted in bronze.

    Cheers Ron,
i had used a mix of field grey and olive on the carriage which looked a bit bright.

No worries Paul, that project is on the back burner for a while as i'm working on the Rorkes Drift set Gordon has produced...nowhere near your Evening of Waterloo epic in complexity but a biggie time wise.
    All the best mate
