'Topi' helmets, Wolseley helmets, pith helmets, sun helmets, etc., etc. Everything you ever wanted to know about them and many images of them on this site.

    Enjoy!

    Ah...the internet.

Somewhere out there in the ether are collections of images and facts about nearly everything human kind knows, including Military Sun Helmets. (y)

For those of you old enough to remember the print Whole Earth Catalog, the internet reminds me of it and kinda brought the idea to fruition.

[For those of you missed it - https://www.amazon.com/Last-Whole-Earth-Catalog-Access/dp/0394704592]

The folks that put the Whole Earth Catalog together annually gave up in 1972 concluding that "We can't put it together; it already is together."

What has that got to do with military sun helmets? Everything. Nothing. Both.

Hey - it's my birthday. I'm feeling philosophical. Apologies.

    All the best,
    Dan

Yes Martin - thanks, I know the Kaisers Bunker. I think Roger Newsome pointed it out to me originally years ago. Wasn't that a militaria sales site originally? It's rare when you find a site that well-organized and documented!!

I have a number of their web photos in my personal photo collection but (I hope!) not posted on Planetfigure. The web site administrator doesn't want any of the photos re-posted anywhere, so I tried to abide by their wishes.

    All the best,

Have you looked through pickelhaubes.com ? It's a collectors site so they have some wonderful pictures of collections and recent finds.

Yes, thanks! From time to time I take a stroll thru auction sites looking for new material. Recently www. Forgotten weapons has had some neat photos and videos.

I've been working on a 1/16th Wolsely sun helmet for a vignette and have found some great photos for references.

    All the best,

    Dan

I like to look through the restoration section to see how the originals were made.
