    Nap,

From the photographic evidence I have seen, and based on searching over 10,000 photos taken in 1914 and 1915 and now in the Australian War Memorial collection (for a book I have written) moustaches were worn by some men, but surprisingly it seems they were not common.

    Cheers

    Nap,

Happy to help. The book is The landing at Anzac, 1915 and a second edition with an additional 8000 words, and new photos and maps will be released this April by Big Sky publishing.

    Cheers

    Nap,

I would agree with Chrisr on the main point that moustaches weren't that popular with ANZAC's, however among staff officers they were far more common.

    Hi Nap,
Just another bit of information for you. I saw a photo from Gallipoli of a few New Zealanders with closely shaved heads. The caption stated that the lack of hair helped control lice so it's possible moustaches fall in this too?
