Officer of the Guide - Egypt 1798

This is a great 75mm kit from Pegaso. Lots of nice detail and great uniform colors to work with. The figure is on of the Officers of the Guide who accompanied Napoleon in Egypt. They later became the Chasseurs a Cheval and you can notice the similarities in the uniform. The figure is painted in acrylics, primarily Reaper Master Series but then Scale75 for the metals. The kit comes with the broken column which I then raised up slightly and surrounded the bottom with sand (putty and then baking soda for texture) to extend the groundwork to the end of the plinth.

All in all a really fun figure to work on and a surprisingly quick project. The dark green was a mix of Badger's Minitaire Dark Green (my Reaper's had a satin finish) mixed with Burgundy Wine for a deeper dark green. The highlights were created by mixing in a medium grey to help retain the dark green feel. The reds were all Reaper, Burgundy Wine again for the shadow, then Violet Red followed by Fire Red for the highlights. A bit of Fair Skin was added to the Fire Red for those top highlights. The lace was done using 50/50 mixes of metallic and matte paints to create an intermediate effect between true metallic and matte. You can find more details on the approach in the work in progress thread for this figure over in the VBench forum

That is just beautiful - I can't get over the detail, and how well you've painted the gold braiding.
I love the rich colours you've used, and the flesh tones in his face too. Really amazing stuff, well done!
