Hi all, I am sorry if this has been asked before. I have looked but cannot see it anywhere.

I am wondering if there is a source for alternative swords and other weapons as options for those that come with scale figures. I am starting with 120mm at the moment but will look at other scales in the future. I hope this makes sense.

    Thank you

I guess then that there is no such after market offerings. Do people make their own perhaps?

If you look at vendor sites like coloradominiatures.com or redlancers.com, you can find various accessories for the different scales under the different manufacturers.

Hi Snowy, what are you referring to when you say weapons, firearms or ancient weapons ?

Swords for various periods such as medieval, Napoleonic etc. plus WW2 weapons such as SMLEs and other rifles, sub-machine guns Steve. I am first up looking for 120mm scale. Theopaone has led me to swords suitable for 54mm which will be useful for future kits. Thanks.

Snowy, Verlinden do 120mm weapons kits such as these, which are available from many on-line retailers and on ebay ~

I do a range of 1/16 120mm weapons mainly WW1/WW2 rifles and SMG's, have a look in the Armoury section on the link bellow.

    Reedees Miniatures

Shipping is free on all 1/16 weapons worldwide.

I haven't had a lot of luck finding 120 mm swords. I usually make them out of styrene strip and file them to shape. It really isn't as hard as you might think. After doing a couple of them you get the hang of it.
Steve, the Reedees weapons look great but what I would love is some 120 mm flintlock rifles. I have some I got in a set of French Indian war weapons I bought many years ago ( can't remember the brand). It almost hurts to use them in a project because I know I can't get more. I notice you've got flintlock pistols available. Any chance of some rifles?

Steve, the items I purchased have already arrived and I am impressed not only with the speed of delivery but more importantly with the quality. Very sharp, with to my eyes fine and correct detail. I have a full size SMLE (deactivated) and your 120mm scale versions are spot on mate. Nicely packaged too. Thank you again.

    Hi Barry,
Thanks for letting me know, I am glad you like the items and I will look forward to seeing what you do with them.
It would have been handy knowing you when I was researching reference for the SMLE, one major drawback of sculpting weapons in the U.K is lack of access to original weapons, the internet does not always supply all the information I need at times to make accurate weapons. I have been tempted at times to purchase deactivated weapons just for reference but wife is not overly keen on that idea

I also have Thompson SMG and S&W Victory model so would be happy to help if you need to see full sizes originals of those. :)

Hi there apart from Steve Reedes weapons, which you will now know
Are of superlative quality, here's another useful link for you

    http://www.djparkins.com/acatalog/120mm_Weapons.html

David has produced these for a number of years and they still 'hold up' well
    With their etched extras.
I have also recently purchased a belt of CAST brass 7.62 ammo. When I find the link I will post this too.

Can you feed back to us if you can scource 120mm swords please
    Good luck

Thank you Paul. That is a useful link. I have not as yet found any other 120mm swords other than the Verlinden offering Mark S mentioned. I shall report back if I find more.

I'd like to see the various manufacturers who make swords that are sold with their figures could also offer them separately as well.

    Cheers

    Yep
I said only partly in jest a while back to another planeteer, it would be only be
A matter of gentlemanly good manners that all manufacturers issue a spares pack by Genre.
Every 10 figures they release gives packs and packs of weapons heads hats shields and packs to use.

More sales, more conversions, more fun.
But also, if theyare strictly only for your own use, why not cast a few for yoruself before you paint them?

Indeed, sound business sense as well as good manners. :)

You may be overestimating my casting abilities, :) I may try to make my own as Gerald suggests.
