Lets tackle this

Hey Guys, again my Thanks for the warm welcome and the Input so far. I decided to start a new Miniature and post my Progress while People can comment on.

I decided that I need to go out my Comfort Zone and tackle something else than a Dwarf:

I`ve been an avid Collector of Rackhams Confrontation Wolfen Line but never painted a single one because they scare me to death paintingwise.

I do have an inspiration from Artem Romanov and while I know that I won`t be able to match this I really liked the general color direction.

To be honest I have no clue where to go from here but this Time I will simply experiment and hope something workable comes out.

I don`t even know which colors to use and hope I can work with what I have here. I am a bit intmidated by the sculpt and this is new Land for me.

I will try to update on my progress and I am happy if you Guys chime in on the way :).

    Cheers and all the Best

If I had to guess, I say the original painter used Non Metallic Metals (NMM) as his technique for the metal portions of the figure. Others will chime in accordingly.

That is a fine looking beast Teame. Looking forward to see what you make of it, quite a challenge you have set yourself.

    Thank you Guys !

Yes, it is quit challenging for me and to be honest I have no clue what I am doing. I have set myself some funny Side Goals for this:

    1) Use colors you have never used, use Manufacturers you never used

    2) Finally Paint with a Size 1 and 2 Brush

    3) !Paint something different than a Dwarf!

    4) Keep washes to a Minimum

    and some others.

I blocked in a Basecoat of P3 Black coal (check 1) using a Size 2 (check 2), which means I allready reached some of my Goals ;).

To be honest that color felt kinda thickish even after thinning down and I am not sure if I shouldn`t have stayed with a single Basecoat. While it allready feels thick under the Finger it hasn`t covered perfectly but its sufficient. I will try to paint the shadows mixing some Black into the Basecoats and maybe some Browns or maybe I will try to bring the Brown in later. Usually I would give everything a wash now for definition and to avoid Painting Shadows.

Like I said this is a big Experiment for me but i hope that I won`t be forced to drown him in acetone ^^
