Can anyone tell me the color of the bag and streamers on the bagpipes of the 16th Irish Div. in WWI?
    Thank you...

    Kevin.
It would depend on the Regiment.
Either Dark Green, or Dark Blue for the bag cover.
Pipe Ribbons Either Dark green. or St Patrick's Blue. ( same colour as Irish Guards plume)

    Hi Kevin.
The bag would have been Dark Blue. The Ribbons were St Patrick's Blue. The ribbons would have only been worn on Parade in the field it would just be cords..
As a matter of interest how many drones have you. you should only have two . Bass & tenor.

Three...but he probably stole the drones from a Scot.
I appreciate the info. Emailed the 16th Irish Division Assoc with the question...they had no clue!
If I want to lose one drone, which would it be?

The Highland Bagpipe has 1 Bass (longest pipe) and 2 Tenors (shorter pipes) + 1 mouth piece and 1 chanter.
    Hopes this helps

    Hi Kevin.
Remove one of the two shorter ones.
Below Royal Irish Fusiliers WW2. The Irish Regiments took up the three drones in the 1960's Defence cuts etc and the excuse of the set up of the Army School of piping.

    Hi Kevin.
No the Caubeen was Dark Green with a with a Blue over Green hackle , I understand that Khaki Caubeens were issued late on in the war.
