So here we go, 54mm white metal flat from Fredericus Rex.

Early stages on the face and some airbrush experimentation on the hat and boots as I already had some black in the cup and it's better than wasting it. :D

Love seeing your work Roger. I picked up a couple of flats at the Expo in Chicago and seeing your example here is inspiring me to get cracking at them. I'll be watching your progress with keen interest.

If you can caste your mind back to the beginning of the this thread I said the work of Adolf Menzel was the inspiration for this piece and I posted his illustration of an officer of 1st Prussian Dragoon Regiment.

The actual flat is based on this illustration by Bryan Fosten in the Osprey Frederick the Great's Army 1 Cavalry.

Clearly there is a difference in the colour of the breeches and waistcoat. Osprey says sulphur yellow waistcoat and straw yellow breeches.

Gunter Dorn & Joachim Engelmann in Die Kavallerie Regimenter Friederich des Grosse 1756-1763 has this illustration.

    IMG_5270.JPG

So sulphur yellow and straw yellow it is.
