How heavy where you on the paintlayers, Carl?

How long from that you painted it, did you wait to test the fit?

Vallejo puts a skin on all parts, afv modellers cover the torsion bars because it prevents the wheels fitting for example. I have had the same thing and must say it is probably one of the thickest paints even applied through an airbrush and thinned with their thinner.
Not that it helps now but I prime in humbrol now by airbrush having assembled as many parts before and use Andrea as a base thinly. Andrea doesn't seem to do the same, on the humbrol undercoat that is but I am oils though.
Not sure how to tackle it if you are using Vallejo entirely as I can imagine the frustration.

What I was getting at is that it sometimes is hard to fit parts recently painted as the Vallejo paint has a rubberlike surface until fully cured, which could take up to 24 hours. Trying to force the parts to fit tightly merely causes the paint to scrub off. On the other hand, I try to avoid painting areas to be glued, at all.

irony? I thought the problem was with white metal......

Oohh yes, pre-painting parts after dry fitting makes any part slightly change size, shape & therefore fit..... paint will distort space & time around these parts so that they no longer fit....

Aircraft canopies, vehicle bits, heads to shoulders, arms to shoulders, hands grasping gear, what fits superbly once cleaned and dry fitted, is warped by the paint.....

White metal, resin, plastic, photo etch.....nothing is immune....

I like Vallejo paints but I only ever thin them with water. I got a large bottle of their thinner when I first bought the paint, tried it once and hated it. .......It thins the pigment but still keeps the liquid as thick as the paint straight from the bottle

I use to had this problem, but now wath i do is to dont paint the area of contact, doing this al the parts will fit. The problem taht ocur is that the paint creat a volume that change the size of the pices, and this milimiters in every corner will result in big diferences.
